Training Program for Construction Superintendents’ & Project
Managers: Acknowledging that the construction superintendent’s
role demands both “hard” and “soft” performance
skills, 350 industry professionals have been trained since 2003
in the people side of the job, focusing on such critical aspects
as negotiation, communication, and career development.
New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT)
Public Involvement Methodologies & Techniques: To
deepen the agency’s ability at engaging its public in decision
making on transportation planning and construction, a multi-year
state-wide capacity assessment and skill building program has been
launched.
International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Tripartite Alliance
Gainsharing Handbook for the Energy Construction Industry: An international alliance of industry, contractors, and unions collaboratively
developed a handbook for promoting gainsharing as a means to achieve
greater productivity, retain skilled manpower, and secure union
labor market share in energy construction.

Strategic Planning Initiative: As a new organization
supporting farmers in their development of farm-based education
programs for schools, families, and communities in the Northeast
the Board of Directors engaged in an intensive 6-month strategic
planning process resulting in coordinated and focused plans for
outreach and operations.

Facilitator: To further cooperation amongst governments, private
industry, and non-governmental organizations in addressing extreme poverty,
climate change, problems in governance, and religion as a source of conflict,
hundreds of leaders from around the world engaged in deliberation and pledges
for action.
Northeast Subarea Transportation Study
Regional
Transportation Planning Process: Citizens, professional planners,
and local governments in upstate New York were led through a one-year
deliberation to develop a long-range plan for regional infrastructure
decision making and funding.
